Choose the role that matches your expertise and the responsibilities you wish to take on
Depending on your experience and the responsibilities you wish to take on, you can work as a Senior Advisor, Principal or Expert.
The role is confirmed at the end of the selection process and formalised in the agreement. Your application states the role you are aiming for; the interview assesses the fit between your experience and the responsibilities involved.
Senior Advisor
Brings to directions and trade-offs the eye of a leader recognised in their sector.
GDC supports institutions and companies in Africa and Europe through high-stakes strategic transformations. To inform the decisions that commit these organisations for the long term, the firm keeps a small circle of Senior Advisors, chosen for their leadership experience, their knowledge of their sector and the independence of their judgement.
- Informing the strategic directions, proposals and trade-offs relating to your sector
- Taking part, occasionally, in committees, programme reviews or panels
- Casting a critical eye over GDC analyses and publications in your field
- Facilitating, where relevant and at your discretion, qualified exchanges with the actors of your ecosystem
- You have held responsibilities as an executive, senior official or institutional leader within an organisation of reference
- Your experience gives you a deep understanding of the stakes, balances and decisions specific to your sector
- Occasional availability, concentrated on the moments when your judgement can inform a decisive choice
- High-stakes strategic interventions, in Africa and in Europe
- Direct access to executive teams, public institutions, regulators and the leaders of your sector
- An advisory role focused on decisive directions and trade-offs
- A diversity of sectors, geographies and transformation situations
- An occasional, remunerated collaboration with no exclusivity, whose visibility is defined with you
A conversation with GDC’s president assesses the fit between your experience, your availability and the sectors in which you wish to contribute.
Principal
Leads engagements, carries the client relationship and answers for the quality of execution.
The Principal leads the engagements entrusted by GDC, from initial framing to the achievement of results and the transfer of capability. They ensure the coherence of the intervention, coordinate the expertise mobilised and carry, before the client, responsibility for the quality of the work produced under the firm’s name.
- Leading transformation engagements, from framing to the client’s resumption of capability
- Conducting the relationship with executives and preparing the trade-offs the engagement requires
- Organising and guiding the experts and consultants mobilised
- Guaranteeing the quality of analyses, recommendations and execution
- Contributing to commercial proposals, to knowledge capture and to the development of GDC methods
- Confirmed experience of consulting, transformation or the leadership of complex programmes
- A practice of working with executive teams and conducting demanding exchanges with senior decision-makers
- The ability to hold, at once, a trajectory, a client relationship, a team and a high standard through to results
- Leadership of complete engagements, with autonomy proportionate to the responsibilities entrusted and the support of the expertise GDC mobilises
- Terms agreed for each intervention, according to its scope, duration and the level of responsibility expected, with no exclusivity
- Principals who contribute durably to engagements, client relationships and the development of the firm may grow into broader responsibilities within GDC
Your application is reviewed against your experience of engagement leadership, your sector practice and your ability to represent GDC before its clients. A conversation with a Vice-President or the president follows; when the conditions are met, the collaboration is formalised through your agreement, signed online.
Expert
Mobilises recognised expertise in a precise field and puts it to work for the engagement’s results.
The transformations GDC leads call on specialised expertise: data, cybersecurity, financial structuring, regulatory compliance, revenue protection, capability transfer. The Expert works alongside the Principal and client teams on the dimensions of the engagement that fall directly within their specialism: bringing methods, experience and judgement, while helping the client make them durably their own.
- Bringing specialised expertise to the engagements GDC leads
- Analysing the stakes, shaping the solutions and informing the decisions within your field
- Producing, supervising or validating the work and assets tied to your specialism
- Working with client teams to transfer the methods, tools and capabilities they need
- Contributing, where relevant, to GDC analyses and publications in your field of expertise
- A confirmed practice of your specialism, demonstrated through substantial achievements: programmes led, arrangements installed, systems deployed, methods developed or recognised publications
- The ability to make complex expertise intelligible to executives and to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
- A taste for transfer: you know how to make your methods, tools and expertise durably appropriable by client teams
- Varied engagements across several geographies: West Africa, the Maghreb, Central and East Africa, France and Europe, according to your field of expertise
- Direct exposure to executive concerns: general management, executive committees, leading companies, public institutions, regulators and strategic operators
- Interventions where your expertise produces a tangible effect, from informing decisions to design, execution and the transfer of capabilities to client teams
- The opportunity to contribute to GDC analyses and publications, in your field, under your name and always with your consent
- A flexible collaboration with no exclusivity, shaped by the engagements, your availability and the responsibilities you wish to take on
An interview assesses your practice, your references and your ability to work within the GDC engagement model. The role and the specialism title are then confirmed jointly, before the collaboration is formalised through your agreement, signed online.
